The Challenge
Pilatus builds world-class aircraft where precision, luxury, and performance are paramount. Their digital presence needed to reflect this same standard of excellence. A standard configurator wouldn’t suffice. They needed an immersive experience that could both educate prospective buyers about the aircraft’s features and allow for deep, visually stunning personalization.
Teamwork
For this immersive solution we collaborated with the Swiss design team from Januar, Mirari for the 3D assets and project management and Innouveau for frontend development. Klaas Nienhuis Studio brought it together and handled the 3D development.
The Solution
We created a unified digital experience that is seamlessly integrated into the Pilatus website, adopting their elegant visual design. The journey is twofold:
- Virtual Guided Tour: Users can explore the aircraft, with interactive hotspots that reveal details, videos and allow manipulation of the doors and landing gear. It’s a self-guided discovery that builds desire and understanding.
- Advanced 3D Configurator: Transitioning to the configurator, users can personalize their aircraft. The technical highlight is our use of real-time texture manipulation via meticulously crafted SVG files. This technique allows for incredibly crisp, detailed, and dynamic changes to liveries and materials that standard texture-swapping cannot achieve.
Once a design is perfected, users can download beautiful renders, generate a personalized PDF brochure, or share a link – turning their creation into a tangible asset.
